The Dominican Republic In Ten Images

The Dominican Republic was the last trip we took before having kids. Actually, we didn’t know it at the time, but we were already pregnant with Hugo when we were there! I thought it’d be fun to put together my favorite ten images from the Dominican Republic, so here they are!

During our 2-week trip we visited Santo Domingo, Las Galeras, and El Limón. Santo Domingo was such a fun and vibrant city to check out. This was almost 10 years ago, and I’m sure it’s only gotten livelier since then! I especially loved the colonial architecture, and the fun colorful houses in the old town.

After Santo Domingo we headed to Las Galeras for some R&R. Las Galeras felt more like a sleepy beach town, which we enjoyed. From there we took a couple of boat trips to nearby beaches like Plata Rincon, and Playa Fronton. I fondly remember how friendly people were in this town. Also, setting up boat trips was as easy as showing up to the beach and talking to locals. I’d love to go back and see if it remains that way or not.

Our final stop was a day trip to Cascada El Limón in Las Terrenas. We rode horses for most of the way there and were wowed by the stunning 52m-high waterfalls! The falls are tucked away in a rough landscape, surrounded by lush green peaks. There is a picture-perfect swimming hole at the bottom where you can cool off before starting the ride back to town. You can also watch some daring locals diving from the nearby jagged cliffs!

Overall, we had a wonderful time visiting the Dominican Republic, and it was a good last trip without kids! Hope you’ll enjoy my favorite ten images of the Dominican Republic!
