We are a multicultural family of 4 who loves traveling. Before kids, we took any opportunity we had to travel the world, spending between a month and three months backpacking through countries in South East Asia and Europe. In 2018 our family took off on a year-long trip and visited over 20 countries in 5 continents. It was an amazing experience! We first started this blog to share our travels with our friends and families but, since beginning our journey, we’ve received a lot of questions from friends about traveling with our kids, so we decided it might be useful if we also share our experiences, tips, and tricks! After the North Cascades, we spent a couple of day After the North Cascades, we spent a couple of days in Montana with friends. We enjoyed our time in MT, but also didn’t love all the anti-California paraphernalia we encountered during our time there. We were super surprised by people’s reactions when we said we were from San Francisco—we were even asked if we were safe, which really makes you wonder what these people are being fed in terms of news… Anyway, no photos from MT.   We started to drive back to SF after MT with an overnight stop in Boise to visit a friend of Joe. On our way to Boise we stopped at Craters of the Moon NM and absolutely LOVED it! We didn’t have time to visit the caves, but we did drive the loop and went on a handful of short walks to check out the volcanic features. There’s a short hike with spectacular views, and apparently also a chance of seeing some mountain goats. Thunder Creek Trail, North Cascades National Park. Thunder Creek Trail, North Cascades National Park. . This hike goes on for about 10 miles, but most people turn around at the bridge (~3.5 miles in). We hiked past that spot and it was so worth it! North Cascades National Park—July 2023. . This i North Cascades National Park—July 2023. . This is the least visited National Park in the lower 48, which is surprising because it’s stunning, and it’a only a 3-hour drive from Seattle! . These photos are from the Thunder Ridge Trail hike. The drive from Vancouver to North Cascades Nationa The drive from Vancouver to North Cascades National Park takes roughly 3 hours… that is unless you get chosen for a second inspection at the US border even though you have Global Entry, and end up spending about an hour and a half to see an officer with a terrible attitude and an absolute lack of manners, or consideration for the fact that you have kids. Did I mention this all happened with us having Global Entry? I mean, what do they think will happen at the Canadian/US border that they walk around fully armored with bullet proof vests, and all the weapons they can fit on their silly outfits? I can’t think of any other country that gives its own citizens such a hard time when returning to their country. Such a terrible contrast when compared to the friendly Canadian officer who welcomed us into Canada just 5 days before we had to deal with this… The US surely has the worst immigration officers I have ever encountered in my travels… and I’ve been to a lot of places.   Once we arrived in the North Cascades, we jumped in the water to cleanse ourselves from that unpleasant experience, and we were ready to spend the next 4 days immersed in this beautiful place, away from modern day distractions.   #northcascadesnationalpark #northcascades #washingtonstate #nationalpark #nationalparksusa #usimmigrationsucks #dobetterusa #summerroadtrip

Highlights included the awesome suspension bridge, the pretty swimming holes, and eating huckleberries from the bush for the first time in our lives! . Vancouver Day 2– VanDusen Botanical Gardens, and Vancouver Day 2– VanDusen Botanical Gardens, and Blowdel Conservatory at Queen Elizabeth Park. . These two places are close to each other and you can easily walk between them (we did). The botanical gardens had a birding activity and the kids earned a badge at the end. The conservatory had a scavenger hunt for kids, which made it extra fun! Vancouver—July 2023 . We spend 5 days there whil Vancouver—July 2023 . We spend 5 days there while Joe finished up his work before going out on vacation. What that meant was that I took the kids out during the day while he worked, and then we all went out together in the evening. Thank goodness for those 10:30pm sunsets because it felt like we had so much time to explore! . On our first day I took the kids to the beach and to the public pool, and in the evening we went for a long walk in Stanley Park, Vancouver’s first, largest, and most beloved park.
